Quinte Health care has been involved in a pilot project on hand washing for more than a year…but only two of the four hospitals, Prince Edward and Trenton Memorial, are good at it so far.
Q-H-C Vice President Kathryn Stansfield says the challenge is in the fact a worker must wash before-and-after seeing a patient. She says this means washing hands after seeing a patient, and then immediately washing again to see another patient. Recent statistics show B-G-H workers just above the provincial average and Bancroft well below, in hand-washing.
