The combination of nice weather and alcohol made for a night full of action for the Belleville Police Service.
A large Blessington Road party turned rough after midnight when alcohol-fueled teenagers allegedly turned on passing motorists and injured them so badly the motorists were taken to hospital.
A 15 year old girl from that party was also taken to hospital for monitoring after officers found her to be drunk.
Residents along Blessington Road suffered damage to their mailboxes, as well.
All incidents related to the party are under investigation.
Police say a 45 year old man “was arrested for his own protection” around one a.m…after passing motorists reported him drunk and laying on the side of the road with his legs on the roadway.
Staff at a North Front Street eatery called police when a female customer seemed too drunk. Police arrested a 26 year old woman “for her own protection”.
Both people were released with charges of public intoxication.
Police also checked 117 vehicles on roadside checkpoints under the Reduce Intoxicated Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) programme.
