There isn’t much agreement on either of the proposals for three schools in Bancroft.
The North Hastings Accomodation Review Committee voted only 22-to-19 earlier this year in favour of closing Bancroft Public School, making North Hastings Senior Elementary a Junior Kindergarten to Grade six school, and moving grades seven and eight students to the High School.
However, Hastings-Prince Edward School Board Chair Karl Pitman says the delegations who spoke at a meeting in Bancroft are split on senior administration’s alternative. That option is to close Bancroft Public, but make the Senior Elementary School a J-K to Grade 8 facility, and have only Grades 9 to 12 at the High School.
The board will make a final decision on May 25th.
