Some good news for Intelligencer readers today. A statement on the company’s website says due to overwhelming public demand the paper won’t be scrapping its Saturday edition…but, will instead be expanding its Friday and Saturday papers. Publisher John Knowles says cutting the Saturday paper was considered by the newspaper’s managers, and public feedback made it clear one less paper a week wasn’t the answer.
Meanwhile, the Intell’s sister paper in Kingston “the Whig-Standard” has laid off seven people in its advertising department as part of a streamlining decision by its owner Quebecor Incorprated. Calls to Quebecor were not returned.
