Like other Quinte area municipalities Belleville has received double-the money, nearly three million dollars, for it’s share of the federal gas tax.
This gives the city a total of seven-point-five million dollars in gas tax money over the last 4-years. Mayor Neil Ellis says the city has been putting the money aside for the new Bell Boulevard bridge. Today’s money, plus next year’s payment and some provincial funding, will completely pay for the new 14-million dollar bridge over the Moira River. Mayor Ellis says contractors are in place, and the project gets underway in a couple of weeks.
