In the future, Belleville’s Official Plan could give a different look to farmlands in Thurlow Ward.
Stephen and Colette Tanner have applied to have 33-acres of land on Thrasher Road re-designated from agriculture and prime agriculture to rural land, allowing severance of lots. The provincial Department of Agriculture agrees it could be re-designated. In fact, the Ministry says “there is justification” to re-designate additional lands located to the west , south of Park’s Creek. The province suggested this be considered during the next Official Plan update. The City’s Planning Committee is recommending that City Council approve the Tanner rezoning application.
