Belleville’s Planning Committee heard some concerns regarding the new regional courthouse project at Bridge and Coleman Streets. The Planning Committe will recommend rezoning for two pieces of land adjacent to the courthouse site. Area resident Donna McPherson expressed concern about the possibility of a grey concete parking garage being built , saying “that area of the city already looks like a war zone.” Brian Magee, who sold the site to the province, says there will be no parking garage since there is enough land for parking. He also said the courthouse is better than a commercial project since the hours of operation are much less than any retail store.
