They didn’t line Front Street in the tens of thousands like 50 years ago, but a few hundred did brave winter like conditions to celebrate the Belleville MacFarlands 1959 World Hockey Championship. 11 members of the Macs were paraded through the downtown where they met old friends and well wishers at the Memorial Arena. Prince Edward County’s Keith McDonald played for the Macs. He says the feeling of winning a world title never goes away.
Hundreds more gathered at the Empire Theatre last night for the debut of a CD and a book to commemorate the MacFarlands World Hockey achievement of a half century ago.
