Hastings County residents will see a slight tax increase this year.
Council passed a budget Thursday, which puts the residential rate a 3.5 per cent for 2009 — up from 3.3 per cent last year.
Chief Administrative Officer Jim Pine said staff did their best to keep expenses down, given the recession.
To keep costs down the County reduced hours of staff at Longterm Care facilities, deferred the Doctor Recruitment Program until next year and only created one new staff position.
