Hastings County hopes to put a dent in its affordable housing waiting list.
The county has put out requests for proposal for groups that can build 56 units.
Social service director Eric Fry said the plan is to build 20 units in Belleville, 20 in Quinte West and a few four-plexes throughout the county. He hopes the province will help out with costs.
Currently, there are more than 1,000 people on Hastings County’s waiting list for affordable housing.
