A Director with the Belleville and District Chamber of Commerce is in favour of the provincial government’s plans to combine the Provincial and Goods and Services Taxes.
That measure is included in the Ontario budget, coming out this afternoon.
Frank Hendry says one tax, rather than two separate taxes of five and eight percent, will be easier to maintain..
He says there is some concern the five per cent G-S-T being added to some products that were exempt will affect consumer spending, but he expects prices to fall because the cost of doing business will go down..
