Quinte West Mayor John Williams wants Quinte Health Care to put some pressure on the Southeast LHIN.
Williams, concerned about Q-H-C having to meet a March ninth deadline file its financial recovery plan with the LHIN, told the board today (yesterday) it should demand an answer as soon as possible on whether the document would be accepted.
However, Q-H-C President Bruce Laughton said the LHIN has gone through the plan, and made a list of questions, and he believes it’s being serious about the issue.. He and other Q-H-C officials met with LHIN representatives this week to discuss the plan, which will reduce expenses at the four hospitals by 9.4-million dollars.
Laughton doesn’t expect a decision on the plan at next week’s LHIN board meeting, but hopes for an answer some time in April.
