The owner of a commercial property on the east side of Sidney Street, at Bridge Street in Belleville, has been fined 25-thousand dollars for various violations of the Ontario Fire Code.
Mohammed Eslamizadeh of Markham pled guilty in provincial court to failing to maintain a fire alarm system, failing to inspect and test fire alarm and sprinkler systems on a monthly basis, and failing to maintain written records of tests and corrective measures of fire protective systems.
Inspections and investigations were conducted by the Belleville Fire and Building Departments dealing with a number of issues since December, 2005. Some of the issues were corrected by the tenants of the property, which houses Giant Tiger, Dollar-It and Liquidation World, to maintain operations.
