Brighton Council is inviting local residents to comment on how the municipality should handle its growing population.
The Growth Management Advisory Committee met for the first time this week, and Councillor Bryan Ostrander was elected as chair.
Mayor Chris Herrington says the first step is community orientation, before the official plan is completed.
Brighton and the six other Northumberland County municipalities are also involved in a growth plan, in response to a provincial report that they say includes unrealistically low projected population increases for the county.
