Blasting wells will still occur in Prince Edward County but there’s been a compromise. The original proposal banned blasting, since it can contaminate ground water sources. There were objections because the cost of drilling a well can be five to ten thousand dollars more expensive. Chair of the study committee Councillor Sandy Latchford says the new recommendation will allow blasting after consulting with a professional. The recommendation goes to Prince Edward County Council Monday night.
