Northumberland County Council has postponed a decision on a request by a Brighton Chicken Farm to waive tipping fees.
A large fire late last year destroyed two of the four barns at Archer’s Poultry, killing about 30-thousand hens, and insurance didn’t cover the tipping fees to dispose of the burned material.
County C-A-O Bill Pyatt said a staff report would be prepared before a decision is made at council’s next meeting on March fourth.
Cobourg Mayor Peter Delanty says he understands Pyatt’s concerns, but the last thing he wants to do is put Archer’s in a situtation it has to shut down.
