The appeal for funds to help a Brighton woman imprisoned in Pakistan hasn’t had the effect a supporter hoped it would.
Joan Byrnes of Cramahe Township set up an internet site, helpdebkerr-dot-com in early December, asking for donations toward the effort to get 36-year-old Deborah Kerr released and returned to Canada.
Kerr was sentenced to 25 years in prison in August for trafficking heroin, but has always claimed the drugs were planted before she was arrested at the Islamabad airport in February, 2007.
Even though the website has been up and running for over three months, only 50 dollars has been donated so far.
