Prince Edward County politicians say they won’t allow cuts to their hospital without a fight. Council passed a motion yesterday that says it will be vigilent in its protection of Prince Edward Memorial Hospital. The motion was presented by Councillor Ray Best. It says the county fully supports a group of 22 doctors who recently wrote to QHC officials, urging them to not to reduce the number of long-term care beds in the Picton-based hospital. Best said he has been beseiged by calls from people who are angry over the cuts proposed by QHC, to reduce a $15 million deficit between its four hospitals.
