Leona Dombrowsky wants to see the numbers first. The Prince Edward-Hastings MPP attended the final public forum for Quinte Health Care in Picton, last night, and says it’s too early for the province to consider letting Prince Edward Memorial Hospital become independent. Although many of the hundreds at Picton United Church suggested the hospital leave the QHC umbrella, Dombrosky said she would like to see a cost analysis first.
QHC President Bruce Laughton told the crowd feedback offered at public forums over the last two weeks will be used for the board to file a new report on what services should be cut at its four hospitals. That report will go to the Local Health Intregration Network by March 9 and following that, he said, there will likely be more opportunities for public input.
