The Hastings-Quinte Emergency Services has been keeping a close eye on the ongoing manoevres to cut millions of dollars from the Quinte Health Care deficit.
Director Doug Socha told the Emergency Services Committee today he was concerned about the ability of paramedics to “off-load” patients at hospitals in a timely manner if beds are cut. And Socha said the original proposal to cut emergency hours at Trenton Memorial Hospital was a real concern, but that has since been dropped. The committee asked staff to write to Quinte Health Care for a final version of its proposals.
