Brighton – Budget Approved Joyce Feb 18 / 09
The tax levy is going up…the tax rate is going down…and, property assessments are way up…and, in the end residents of Brighton will be paying a little more municipal property tax this year. Council rubber stamped the 2009 budget, last night, which includes a 3.5 percent increase in the levy. CAO Gayle Frost says that works out to roughly 21 dollars more in residential tax on a home assessed at 100-thousand dollars. The 11.6-million dollar 2009 budget is 150-thousand dollars more than last year.
