The mother of a young Belleville boy whose son’s hands were scalded in a pot of boiling water calls today’s sentencing a joke and an insult. Tensions and emotions were high during the sentencing hearing for 24-year old Magan Muir. She was given 18-months conditional sentence in the community and 18-months probation for assault causing bodily harm in connection with the incident at an Applewood Drive residence. The boy’s mother Tina Reddom was upset with the sentence saying her son is scarred emotionally and physically for the rest of his life and all she got was a bracelet. As a part of the sentence Muir must also attend counselling and adhere to numerous conditions. Muir was babysitting the 2-year old boy while his father…Muir’s boyfriend…was out fishing in October 2007.
