There’s lots of intense support for a vibrant Trenton Memorial Hospital. Quinte Healthcare held a public meeting in to cost cutting options at the Trenton High School last night, and 12 hundred people jammed the auditorium and an adjacent cafeteria. Many in the crowd cheered loudly when suggestions were made that Trenton hospital break away from QHC. Quinte West Mayor John Williams says the cost cutting options are still changing, and he wants to see what the final picture looks like, but he won’t rule out a separation. Quinte Healthcare says Trenton hospital would remain viable with a 24 hour emergency room, some monitored and palliative care beds, 16 medical beds, a busy operating theatre, along with other services.
