The city of Belleville will become even more bicycle-friendly, as early as this summer. As city council wrapped up its its budget deliberations yesterday, it decided to provide bike lanes on city streets. Administrator Steve Hyndman says the city needs a trail masterplan but in the meantime something could be done this year. Council directed staff to implement the lanes whenever possible, and Hyndman says some will be done this summer on extra wide streets, during the regular street line-painting. He says they will have to sort out how this will work with parking on the streets.
