The Province is making a major investment in Downtown Belleville. After years of waiting, the McGuinty Governmment announced today that the new consolidated courthouse will be built on the old Corbin Lock property on the opposite side of the Moira River from City Hall. It was a surprise to property owner Brian Magee when informed by our newsroom of today’s announcement. He says the real estate deal still hasn’t been done….but, says his property makes the most sense because of its proximity to the downtown and its accessability for residents in Quinte West and the bridge to Prince Edward County.
MPP Leona Dombrowsky says the infrastructure investment will provide a modern, effective and accessible justice system for our residents. The facility will bring together the Superior Court on Pinnacle Street, the Ontario Court of Justice on Victoria Street and the Youth-Family Court in Century Place. There’s been no information on when construction may start.
