If you expected a big crowd, and fireworks, at a public meeting into changes at Quinte Healthcare hospitals last night in Brighton. You were wrong. There was a big crowd, about 300, but it was a polite, and positive meeting. CEO of Quinte Healthcare, Bruce Laughton, eased the tension right off the bat….and received applause when he announced that it had become obvious the TMH emergency room should remain open 24-hours a day…palliative care beds will remain at each of the sites and that TMH will have day surgey and a clinical decision unit. He also said because of input from staff and the public, the options for cost savings were changing continuously. The next meeting on proposed cost cutting options is set for tonight at the High School in Picton at 6:30.
