It was a close call on the Bay of Quinte, south of Point Anne..
Belleville’s deputy fire chief, Bruce Greatrix, says a pickup truck broke through the ice, near Massassauga Point at about 8-30 this morning, and sank to the bottom.
Both occupants got out in time, and were able to walk back to shore.
Greatrix says firefighters have marked and barricaded the hole in the ice to prevent anyone from going through.
He doesn’t know when the truck can be towed out of the five metres of water.
