The board of directors of Quinte Waste Solutions is taking the first step toward the creation of an Integrated Waste Management Master Plan for the greater Quinte region.
The board has voted to hire a specialist on an 8 or 9 month contract to draw up the plan. Public meetings will be held as part of the process, and a plan should be ready before the end of the year. The plan would address how best to deal with re cycling, landfill, composting, industrial waste, and bio-solids over the long term.
Quinte Waste Solutions represents 9 area municipalities.
