A local fire chief says rural homeowners should check their 9-1-1 property markers in case they’re buried by snow.
John Whalen in Quinte West says, with all the snow that has fallen this month, the markers might not be as easy to spot as they should be.
He says residents should dig out any snow around the markers, since emergency services depend on them when responding to a call.
He says homeowners with fire hydrants near their properties should also shovel around them, so firefighters could get to them quickly if there was ever a fire..
