The cuts run deep at Trenton and Picton Hospitals in the three “options presented yesterday for the future of Quinte Healthcare“. Closing the Emergency Room at TMH during the overnight period and cutting the number of beds from 70-to-10. In Picton, the hospital could see the number of beds cut from 24-to-8, its maternity ward shut down and its special care unit moved. President Bruce Laughton says there’s no more money from the Province and if they do nothing they will incur more debt. He says he hopes a series of public meetings will be robust and provide input into the options presented and perhaps come up with new options to balance the budget for this year which is projecting a deficit of 6.7-million dollars this year and another 8.5-million dollars next year.
