It is further proof of the booming job market Northumberland County is a part of.
Statistics Canada says the unemployment rate in an area consisting of Northumberland, Peterborough and Haliburton Counties, Kawartha Lakes and Muskoka district, was only 4.9 per cent last month.
That is down from 6.5 per cent in December, 2007.
The jobless rate in Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox and Addington and two other Eastern Ontario counties nudged up by point one per cent in December, to 5.5 per cent.
