Tenders have come in slightly higher than expected for a new Catholic elementary school building in Marmora.
The Ministry of Education is giving the Algonquin-Lakeshore School Board 3.4-million dollars for the facility, which will replace the current Sacred Heart School.
However, board official Bryan Davies says the four bids came in at 3.8 to 4.1-million dollars, and staff are negotiating with the companies about revising their tenders to reduce the costs.
The lowest tender is from Mirtren Contractors in Trenton, and Davies says the contract will probably be awarded next month.
