It is down to the wire to try to reach a contract settlement for Access Centre Case Managers in the Quinte Area.
The 160 employees, including registered nurses, rejected the Southeast Community Care Access Centre’s final contract offer one week before Christmas.
The president of the Ontario Nurses Association, which represents the case managers, Linda Haslam-Stroud, says a mediation session, with a Labour Ministry official, is scheduled for this friday in Belleville. She says the case managers will meet to discuss possible strike action if no agreement is reached this week..
The workers serve about ten-thousand clients a day in an area stretching from Quinte West to Smiths Falls, and Haslam-Stroud says they want a contract that respects and recognizes their skills and expertise..
