The composition of council is the only subject of discussion at a special meeting today of Prince Edward County Council.
Council has often been criticized for being too large, and with 15 councillors and the mayor representing the municipality’s 25-thousand residents, the council is one of the most disproportionate anywhere.
Belleville’s council, serving a population of 46-thousand, is made up of eight councillors plus the mayor, and even Hastings County, serving a population of around 38-thousand, has fewer representatives, at 14.
The subject will be debated at Shire Hall in Picton at 1-30 this afternoon, and council will even accept input from the audience.
