It’s the end of a long tradition at the Belleville Public Library.
The Brown-bag lunch, featuring music and guest speakers during the noon hour, for 35 years, was held for the last time yesterday.
Fewer and fewer people were attending, so the library board decided to cancel them. Those involved said there aren’t as many busy offices downtown where people can go to the library for lunch, and many who do, go to a restaurant.
Library board chair, Garnet Thompson says something similar will be held, at a different time of day, to boost attendance.
