The police RIDE programme saw lots of activity Belleville overnight.
Police say they were active for less than five minutes when they laid their first charges…a 21-year-old man was allegedly found with numerous drugs and a weapon while driving in the city’s east end.
Another 21-year-old man was charged for impaired driving with a blood alcohol level more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit.
Two other drivers – ages 20 and 40 – were later charged for driving while impaired by alcohol.
In total, officers stopped nearly a thousand vehicles overnight.
Around 7pm, police say several calls from the public alerted them to a suspected drunk driver.
Officers from a nearby RIDE checkpoint located the driver…who had fled the scene where they allegedly struck a parked car and ran away.
A Belleville woman faces charges in court in January.
A breathalyzer test showed she had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in her bloodstream.
