Agriculture Minister Leona Dombrowsky says she can’t understand why a local Conservative M-P-P would want unpasteurized milk made available to consumers.
Napanee-area Tory Randy Hillier introduced a private member’s bill in the legislature yesterday, supporting an Owen Sound farmer who was recently fined five-thousand dollars for selling milk straight from the cow.
Dombrowsky says she’s surprised, since the Dairy Farmers of Ontario are opposed to the sale of unpasteurized milk.
She says Hillier’s bill, which she expects will be defeated, will go to second reading in the legislature in the new year.
