It was a toddler playing with matches that caused the fire that destroyed seven apartments in Roslin. Deputy fire chief Bruce Greatrix says the accidental blaze Saturday was caused by a young child finding matches and unintentionally starting the fire. Greatrix says the parents feel awful about what has happened…and reminds people to keep smoking materials out of children’s reach. Belleville firefighters responded to the old RJ’s restaraunt and store at the corner of Highway-37 and Boundary Road just after two Saturday afternoon. Residents of the seven single-family dwellings have been housed in temporary units while their apartments are repaired. Greatrix says one of the apartments was damaged by fire…and the others were damaged by the water used to put out the fire.
