A beloved Christmas display for years in Belleville is going to be rejuvenated.
City staff had decided that a display put up at the Tom Gavey Alemite Park had become worn out over the years, and shouldn’t be installed this year. However, residents complained about the missing display.
Now, Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis is happy to report that the city’s Professional Firefighters Association has taken in the display, and will be fixing it up in their spare time. It should be ready to go sometime next week.
The display was first created in honour of 2 young local men, Billy Foster, and Art “Sonny” Culloden, who were killed in a traffic accident on Christmas Eve, 1958.
