It will be another Christmas in prison for a 36-year-old Brighton woman convicted of drug trafficking in Pakistan.
Deborah Kerr, who was given a 25-year sentence after being found guilty in August, claims the six kilograms of heroin found in a container next to her luggage at the Islamabad International Airport in February, 2007, was planted.
A friend in Brighton, Joan Byrnes, says Kerr’s Pakistani legal representative expects to file the appeal of her conviction in January..
She says Kerr is very discouraged and has lost a lot of weight, but hopes her appeal is successful, and she can be released within three to six months.
