Brighton Council starts 2009 budget deliberations this Friday. Mayor Chris Herrington says, given the current economic climate, she is recommending Council try to minimize any increase to local ratepayers. However, Mayor Herrington says Brighton is in good financial shape, and doesn’t have to shy away from taking on projects the community really needs. Last year, local tax rates increased in Brighton by under 3 percent. The budget should be complete by February.
