Terrible news for employees at one of Quinte West’s long time industries.
Pepsi Co Canada today announced that it’s closing it’s Quaker Rice Cake plant on Dufferin Avenue in Trenton.
The plant will close on February 12th, and 258 employees will lose their jobs.
Pepsi Co says it’s current manufacturing abilities are under utilized, and after consideration, decided it needed to consolidate it’s operations to remain competitive.
The company is working with the union to help with severance pay, counselling, and help with an employment search.
