Companies from as far away as British Columbia, Manitoba and Quebec want to provide fire dispatch services in Northumberland County.
The out-of-province firms are three of the eleven that bid on the contract, with the rest from Ontario.
The seven Northumberland municipalities all decided to go with one dispatch service, instead of the four current providers, none of which does fire dispatching only.
It is expected the new dispatching contract will be awarded in the near future.
