Concerns have been raised about a hospital patient non-emergency transfer-service in the Quinte area. A member of the Hastings-Quinte Emergency Services committee says the problem is that transfers are not available on weekends. Belleville councillor Pat Culhane says this can cause backup problems in the hospitals. Emergency Services director Doug Socha says it has meant a “major reduction” in non-emergency ambulance calls. But Socha promised to raise the weekend issue with the Local Health Integrated Network.
