Local Mayors, MPP’s and Quinte Healthcare officials are hitting the road for Toronto today….ready to plead for more funding from the Health Minister. The meeting was requested by the QHC which is looking for assistance to cover a projected $8-million deficit. Health Minister David Caplan has refused to allow the media in his office but will speak to reporters after the meeting which is set for 10am.
Meanwhile, the QHC is looking for a loan after the Local Health Integration Network informed the hospitals, this week, it won’t be lending 3.6-million dollars as promised to cover its deficit. LHIN CEO Paul Huras says they never made that promise and QHC won’t be getting a cent from them.
