The Loyalist Humane Society in Picton hopes to build a new home for its cats and dogs.
The agency’s application for rezoning of a property in the Industrial Park for an animal shelter will be considered by the Prince Edward County planning committee on November 26th.
Society President Gayle Robinson says a facility of about 28-hundred square feet is needed because of the increasing number of animals that have been rescued.
The current shelter, at another location in Picton, is now taking care of about 100 cats, and sends dogs to foster homes in the county until permanent homes are found.
