By a resounding vote of 12-to-1 council shot down the idea proposed by Sidney Councillor Terry Cassidy to ban gun hunting on ther “day of rest”.
Councillor Ron Hamilton says the deer population is growing and damaging crops in the region and it makes sense to partially cull them.
The ministry of natural resources supports Sunday hunting to increase the chances of controlling the wildlife population.
