Centre Hastings firefighters made quick work of a transport fire early this afternoon in Madoc.
Firefighters got the call shortly after 1 p.m. for a tractor trailer on fire at Foodland in Madoc.
The transport was located beside the building causing approximately $10,000 in damage to the building itself according to Fire Chief Bob Branscombe as the Foodland sign was damaged.
He says there is also $60,000 damage to the truck as the cab of the truck is completely gone.
The fire was under control within 30 minutes.
The driver was able to escape the cab without injury.
Hastings Prince Edward School Board tweeted Madoc Public School and Centre Hastings Secondary were placed under a shelter in place while crews attended the scene but were dismissed on time.
