One person was rushed to Belleville General Hospital after a serious house fire in east end Belleville early this morning (Saturday).
City firefighters, police and Hastings-Quinte paramedics responded around 2:30 to find an older two-storey brick house up in flames at 190 Dundas Street East, in the area of the TSC Stores plaza.
The house contained two apartments. The tenants in the main floor unit escaped safely but at least one person was trapped upstairs.

The man who alerted emergency services to the fire told Quinte News he could hear screaming from the upstairs apartment.
One of the residents who escaped the building said he believed a person climbed out an upstairs side window and got to the ground using a nearby tree.
The Belleville Police Service and its Forensic Identification Unit in conjunction with the Belleville Fire Department and Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
