Are they open as usual or not? It’s time to get growing !
There has been confusion about whether or not garden centres were considered “essential” businesses under provincial regulations brought in to fight the spread of the COVID19 coronavirus.
That confusion has been cleared up.
John Gibson, a partner for over 30 years at Farmgate Gardens west of Foxboro on Frankford Road, says the regulations clearly state that garden centres and nurseries are essential in that they grow and distribute plant material for the horticulture industry under the agriculture and food production section of the regulations.
“In garden centres and nurseries that are spacious, people shouldn’t be concerned about their health as long as they practice physical distancing and we’ll make sure they’re aware of how they should be browsing through the area.”
Some local garden centres are already open to the public while others should be opening soon.
